What Users Actually Want from Apps (hint: its not AI)

When I first thought of Get Adulting, I was not thinking 'What is the best way for me to make money?' or 'What features is everyone else doing?'. I was thinking 'What solution do I need? What have I been looking for that current apps are lacking?' The list became clear. I wanted my app to be different, I wanted it to be:

• Affordable - WHY is every app nowadays $10/mo or $40/year or $79.99 lifetime?? Everything costs money and everything costs too much. My goal is to keep Get Adulting accessible, which is why it is only $2.99/year with lifetime option available (subscription fatigue is real)

• NO AI - every app slaps on AI to everything. It feels like an invasion of privacy, not a feature I personally want, and it's unregulated. While there may be some benefits to AI, the negatives heavily outweigh and it wasn't something I wanted in my app.

• NO Ads - you don't have to pay extra for no ads, there just isn't any in the app. And there never will be.

• Offline - Again with the invasion of privacy, every app nowadays tracks data. Even if they aren't selling it, I don't want my info out there or uploaded into a cloud.

• No Premium Tiers - you don't get more if you pay more with my app. Again, the app is designed to be accessible to all, so you get "premium" features right away and always: customizing your app color, your sections, calendar syncing, and more.

• Built for the User, not the normal app template: I have no UI experience before this so I designed the app for what made sense to my brain. The design doesn't fit the normal set up for an app (with a menu bar at the bottom or sandwich menu on the side). This, paired with the hazard logic, I believe really makes the interface design strong.

Most productivity apps like Notion and TickTick are costly, use AI or a server to store your data, and can be overwhelming to set up. The Get Adulting app has built-in timelines and templates, designed to actually teach you how to be a better adult (not just expect you to know everything). It's meant to organize, not clutter your life. You can simply turn off sections you don't want to use, making the app perfectly yours.

I built Get Adulting by myself from an idea I had last year. Now, eight months after launch, Get Adulting has been featured by Apple as the #1 Best New App/Update!

I never thought when I launched my app Get Adulting that I would be here today with thousands of users, hundreds of people emailing me with suggestions, and so so many people saying how much it helped them. It all feels so surreal and I am still in constant shock and gratitiude.
