We’ve all had the excitement of a brand new app to explore. You saw a cool ad, or a friend recommended it, or you just happened upon it on the App Store. You download it. You sign up. You agree to pages worth of terms and conditions that you didn’t bother to read, and then finally, finally

A pay wall. All of your hard work is for nothing, and now you’ll be getting annoying emails from this company for the rest of your life.

The Get Adulting app is taking a stand against this blasphemous behavior in just one feature of its newest update. For new users just looking to check the app out before you commit to paying, there’s now a one-time “Explore the App” button where you can see everything Get Adulting has to offer!

Both new and returning users have lots of new features in this update to help you organize your life. Let’s start with some minor changes before we get to the good stuff, shall we?

  • Added ‘Tone Tags’ to Mental Health Education, explaining their uses and how you can use them.

  • Added to Cycle Syncing info to Women’s Health, giving you clear recommendations on what to eat, how to exercise, and any tips on sleep + activities for the different menstrual phases based on your start period date

  • Added toggle in settings allowing you hide the important reminder banner on your home page

  • Fixed bug that caused the app to crash when you deleted a reminder

  • Added back button for easy navigation to Sign-Up page and Login Page

First major addition to the app (and the biggest update yet!): My Budget! This one is a game changer. Most apps that help you with budgeting require a connection with your bank, and therefore have access to all of your information. The Get Adulting app's new budgeting section is simplistic and easy to use! Just add your expected paychecks and bills, and use this section to help you keep track of when you need to pay them, and what paycheck they’ll be coming out of. You can also opt-in for notifications before your bill is due to prepare for your payments (available in three options: one week before, three days before, and one day before)! Check off each bill once you’ve paid them and if you forget, a hazard symbol will appear to remind you! Breanna has been working on this one for months, and as someone who has had early access for quite a while, I can guarantee that this section is a game-changer!

There’s also two more major features in the Mental Health section–and these ones are especially helpful for our neurodivergent friends! The new Digital Fidgets are a collection of fidget toys right on your phone! Buttons to press, sliders to slide, and my personal favorite, a touch pad with a ripple effect. For extra sensations, you can opt-in to vibrations for all of these!

There’s also a brand new Focus timer to help you focus. It works like this: Focus for 25 minutes, then take a 5 minute break. Repeat. Also available in 25/3 and 45/10 increments. Get Adulting’s in-app timer makes this super simple–you can even customize the length of your focus time and breaks for different activities! To further encourage you to stay on task, the timer will take up the full screen while it’s on so no more “quick” TikTok breaks!

A lot of hard work went into this update, so thanks to all of you for your patience with bug fixes and for giving this indie app a try! It seriously means so much to me that an idea I had last year is now a fully functional app with hundreds of users! Feel free to contact the Get Adulting creator if you’ve got any questions!! The Get Adulting app is currently on iOS for $2.99/year, with a 7-day free trial. Android users, Get Adulting will be available for you soon!
